Pay for Your Yacht Charter with Bitcoin and Crypto

You can pay for your yacht charter in Bitcoin. We accept Bitcoin and the major stablecoins through Bitcashier, a regulated crypto payment processor used across the yachting industry. You pay from your wallet, and the payment is converted on the spot into the currency of your charter contract, so the price you agreed is the price that arrives.

This page explains which coins you can use, how a crypto payment fits into the normal charter payment schedule, and what we need from you before the first payment.

Which cryptocurrencies you can pay with

  • Bitcoin (BTC)
  • Ethereum (ETH)
  • Tether (USDT) and USD Coin (USDC)
  • XRP

If you hold something else, convert it to one of these first. Stablecoins are the simplest choice for a large payment, because their value does not move while the transaction confirms.

How a crypto payment works

  1. Your contract stays in euros or dollars. The charter agreement is written in EUR or USD like any other booking. Crypto is only the way you pay it.
  2. We send you a Bitcashier payment request for the exact amount due, with a wallet address and a set window in which to pay.
  3. You pay from your own wallet. Bitcashier converts the payment into the contract currency at the moment it confirms.
  4. The funds settle to the contracting company in EUR or USD, and you receive the same payment confirmation you would get for a bank transfer.

Because the conversion happens at the moment of payment, neither you nor the yacht carries the risk of the price of Bitcoin moving between signing and sailing.

The payment schedule does not change

Paying in crypto follows the same schedule as paying by bank transfer, as set out in your charter contract. Typically that is a first instalment when the contract is signed and the balance, together with the Advance Provisioning Allowance (APA) for fuel, food and drinks, several weeks before the charter starts. Each instalment can be paid in crypto, by bank transfer, or a mix of the two.

Any refund, and any APA left over at the end of the charter, is returned in the contract currency by bank transfer, not in crypto.

What we need before you pay

Crypto payments carry the same anti-money-laundering checks as any large international payment, and we complete them before the contract is issued, not after:

  • A copy of the passport of the person paying.
  • A proof of address dated within the last three months, such as a utility bill or bank statement.
  • The payment must come from a wallet you control, in the name of the person or company on the contract. We cannot accept payments on behalf of the client from someone else.

Bitcashier may ask for its own verification as well. It is quick when the documents above are ready.

Questions clients ask

Can I charter any yacht with crypto?
Yes. The yacht and its owner are paid in the contract currency, so a crypto payment works for any yacht we can book.

What if the price of Bitcoin drops after I pay?
It makes no difference to the booking. Your payment was converted when it confirmed, and the charter is paid in full at that amount.

What if I send the wrong amount?
An underpayment is settled with a second payment for the difference. An overpayment is credited against your next instalment or the APA.

Is there a fee?
Bitcashier charges a processing fee, which your broker will confirm with the payment request before you send anything.

Start a crypto booking

Tell your broker at the start that you would like to pay in crypto, so the documents are ready by the time you choose a yacht. If you do not have a broker yet, browse the yachts and send an inquiry on any of them. The broker who answers will set up the crypto payment with you.
